Optical fiber coupler (Coupler), also known as splitter (Splitter), connector, adapter, flange, is an electrical-optical-electrical conversion device that transmits electrical signals with light as a medium, and is used to realize optical signal split/combination. A coupler can be used as a splitter to couple out some portion of the light circulating in the resonator of fiber laser, for example. Directional 2 × 2 couplers (see Figure 1) are usually used for such purposes. It covers a wide range of fiber optic devices such as optical splitters, optical combiners, and optical couplers.
